Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (German: Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens), or simply Nosferatu, is a 1922 German Expressionist horror film, directed by F. W. Murnau, starring Max Schreck as the vampire Count Orlok. The film, shot in 1921 and released in 1922, was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula (1897). Various names and other details were changed from the novel: for instance, "vampire" became "Nosferatu" and "Count Dracula" became "Count Orlok".

Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (translated as Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror; or simply Nosferatu) is a classic 1922 German Expressionist horror film, directed by F. The film, shot in 1921 and released in 1922, was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, with names and other details changed because the studio could not obtain the rights to the novel (for instance, "vampire" became "Nosferatu" and "Count Dracula" became "Count Orlok").

Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens; Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror. It is commonplace to say that silent films are more ‘dreamlike,’ but what does that mean? In ‘Nosferatu,’ it means that the characters are confronted with alarming images and denied the freedom to talk them away. Nosferatu is an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, barely disguised by changing the names and moving the action from London to Germany. Ranked on Empire Magazine’s List of Best Films of World Cinema.

Nosferatu represents a stunning example of the vivid German scene of progressive rock with self-made compositions. Their compositions are very intelligent, tricky and variable. Their sound is characterized by an interesting conversation between keyboards, flute, saxophone and guitar as lead-instruments, based on a heavy grooving rhythm section. Also, they are able to mix hard rock elements with tender melodious parts. In tracks like "Work day" the Band operates in a progressive way with sound-effects to create a tremendous atmosphere. The second track Willie The Fox is the most deviant, extending into paranoid nightmares. Still it's a whopper of a trip and highly recommended. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.

Reprising the laugh in Nosferatu, it is much more pronounced in the English version of the film than the German. Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht" is the most complete of vampire films, and towers over the genre. It could be considered a pity that the only film that sits upon its coattails is its predecessor of the same name. Under Herzog's direction (wisely choosing to avoid remaking classic shots), we get an entirely different film that exudes an entirely different feeling. It not only maintains the eerie horror that the genre deserves, but also achieves a beauty and mystique that has been lost over the years.

Nosferatu, a name that ringeth like the cry of a bird of prey. With twilight the empty castle came alive again with menacing shadows. From the seed of Relial came the vampire Nosferatu which liveth and feedeth on the blood of mankind and abideth, unredeemed, in horrible Darkness, on the cursed earth from the graveyards of the Black Death. At night said Nosferatu sinketh his fangs into victim and feeds on the blood that constitues his hellish elixir of life.
