Through the Darkest Hour employs a simple yet profoundly effective strategy to deliver its doomy goodness upon the listener. The band doesn't screw about with silly things like keys and synths, rather, they let the songwriting do the talking. Solitude Aeturnus’ 3rd full length album is an example of everything going right. It is doom metal perfected, hell it’s metal perfected and I can never get enough of it. Solitude Aeturnus have taken the sound they developed on their first two releases and perfected it.
After being a huge fan of the Depths of Sorrow and Crimson records, this album was initially a disappointment for me. Rob's voice is awesome as usual but I didn't think the riffs and songs were as epic as their first two records. its fully amazing how many people we haft to walk through to get to someone who knows. to relate to u - i had to listen to Dio for 35 years and see the advent of . just to learn about this band. seperate paths for u and i but common ground as well. this cougar sends ya musical kissez.

Like each Solitude Aeturnus release, these better moments are overwhelmed by vocalist Robert Lowe. Lowe demonstrates good control and a fair amount of melodic invention, but too often his forced articulation of rather pompous lyrics gets in the way of the music. Complicating matters are more than a few uneven mixes, a production problem common to many of this group's recordings. The vocals are mixed much too loudly and, except for the moody "Shattered My Spirit," Lowe's voice seems to occupy a space completely separate from the instruments. Even with all this going against.
