The Electric Age. Overkill. s title, but we went back and forth. The song Electric Rattlesnake was originally entitled Electrocution Therapy, and we were kind of looking for a theme, but not necessarily so important to us, but something that we are all about. There has always been this kind of electric vibe between us, the audience, and the scene. The title track from Overkill’s tenth album. More Overkill albums. The Wings of War. 2019.
Enter 2012, the 32nd year of the bands existence marks another milestone for OVERKILL: the 16th album, The Electric Age - Blitz himself describing the Ironbound era had kind of a rebirth feeling to it, the new offering can perfectly be depicted as the raw and wild youth that naturally follows. Thinking of Ironbound as kind of a revival of what OVERKILL is about, The Electric Age with all the trademarks you love about this band, refreshing them and adding a modern age feeling, without denying their roots and sticking to the original sound, is the essence of OVERKILL
Much like 2010's Ironbound, The Electric Age is a window to a more straightforward era in heavy metal's past, reminding the world of a time when the genre was a rebellious loner that thrived on volume and aggression and not a d librarian. As such, this album is prefix- and hyphen-free thrash, pure and simple. The guitar and bass work is tight and technical, the drums are fast, and the vocals are soaring, and with a toolkit so direct and simple, not a whole lot more is needed.
Band Name Overkill (USA). Album Name The Electric Age. Type Album. Дата релиза 27 Март 2012. Лейблы Nuclear Blast. When I heard that Overkill was releasing a new album, I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for the release of a thrash metal album in my entire life.
I'll admit; "The Electric Age" is my first full-album experience with Overkill. However, what limited listening I had done endowed me with a sense of respect and expectation for this album. In a word, it's excellent. The album sound continues in a similar vein to Ironbound but the songs are overall shorter and not as progressive. Think that this is a stripped-down, more straight to the point Ironbound version and I think you've got the idea. I think this was a great move by the band as another "that" progressive album maybe wouldn't have matched its predecessor. Instead Overkill take the energy and quality of Ironbound and put it into a more "classic Overkill album" style. In conclusion this album was both very surprising and not.
So after two years, and an announcement of a new album fans were left wondering if Overkill had anything left. I am happy to say you can take those doubts and throw them straight in the gutter. The Electric Age carries on what I consider the 4th generation of Overkill. As much as they have always been identified by the duo of Blitz and . their sound has been defined by who sits the drum kit. Rat Skates, Sid Falk and Tim Mallare all have distinct albums associated with them. Ron Lipnicki (Imortalis, Ironbound and Electric Age) is currently on that throne.
