What One Becomes by SUMAC, released 10 June 2016 1. Image of Control 2. Rigid Man 3. Clutch of Oblivion 4. Blackout 5. Will to Reach SUMAC (Aaron Turner on guitar and vocals, Nick Yacyshyn on drums, and Brian Cook on bass) invests in the recursive exercises of chaos and control, which manifest on the band’s second album What One Becomes. The trio’s debut The Deal (2015) revealed a new side of Turner’s combustible songwriting and guitar work, further expanding on his efforts in Isis and Old Man Gloom  . There is a profound anxiety that leaches through What One Becomes. SUMAC's choreographed structures parallel the internal and personal struggles with anxiety. Got it. + add. album.

What One Becomes is the second studio album by American post-metal band Sumac. It was released on June 10, 2016 through Thrill Jockey. The album was recorded at The Unknown studio in Anacortes then mixed and produced by Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studio in Salem. In November 2015, it was announced that the band was in at Phil Elverum’s co-owned studio The Unknown tracking the follow-up to their 2015 debut, The Deal

Album · 2016 · 5 Songs. Unlike its doom metal peers, Sumac is never drowsy. Their musical ambitions heat up Blackout, a writhing epic that occupies the overlapping territory between Sleep’s stoner metal, Sub Pop’s grunge, and Slint’s scathing math rock. What One Becomes Sumac. Listen on Apple Music.

Sumac, Aaron Turner’s new trio, succeeds at making minimalist doom metal because they recall what fans of Isis loved without resembling his past work in the slightest

My copy has some white smoke on the second LP (sides C and D), and I have seen this in pictures of several other copies floating around online. Is this consistent with all of the clear copies? If so, maybe the colour variant should read something like: “A/B Clear, C/D Clear w/ Smoke”.
My copy didn't have the white smoke. Both LPs were 100% clear, so there seems to be only a select number of copies that has the white smoke.
Looks like the clear pressing is available again on the Thrill Jockey webshop: https://thrilljockey.com/products/what-one-becomes
I've always been a great Aaron Turner "fan". And this work shows why. Fury, rage, anger - expressed in every note, in every sound, in every song. In the eighties Big Black did that to me. Now he does. This is not metal, this is not avantgarde, this is pure agression and hate. But in a positive way. Yes! This is just perfect!
there's also a grey version (band edition) available at sige records https://sigerecords.merchtable.com/music/vinyl/sumac-what-one-becomes-vinyl-2xlp#.V1XuNJGLS70
I believe that is correct. It is a beautiful pressing. I just got mine yesterday.
I read that 200 of the clear Version were made. Can anyone confirm that?
THX for the info! Maybe this should be posted in the nozes then.
My local record shop Plan 9 in Richmond, VA had a few copies for sale and the poly-sleeves definitely stated "clear limited to 200 copies". I'm trusting that they have the correct info, hope that helps!
