Complete your Nocturnal Emissions collection. It's not a perfect album, by any means, but it's still a great example of the use of samples from unusual sources (In this case, babies). If you want the best from Nocturnal Emissions, look for "Magnetized Light", probably his best work to date.

If you hate babies, this album is not for you. And if you think this is about soothing lullabies to make children sleep, this is something to make them have nightmares instead. This is industrial experimentation at its finest. Loops and recordings of "singers" under 18 months old are compressed, distorted and stretched beyond recognition, creating the most unusual patterns and rhythms I have ever listened on an experimental album. The overall vibe is quite dark and abstract, and there are moments when you could swear you are listening to satanic voices from hell. It's not a perfect album, by any means, but it's still a great example of the use of samples from unusual sources (In this case, babies). If you want the best from Nocturnal Emissions, look for "Magnetized Light", probably his best work to date.

I agree with your thoughts about the album but to be honest NE's 90s were not that good ( to be really really fair ) ... but the good stuff are the early industrial experiments, the electronic nightmares (borderline ebm borderline minimal synth) and that weird droning / folkish style with occult and traditional related themes of The World is My Womb and Spiritflesh. I consider this one to be the last of the cool ones... During the 90s there were some good droning experiments and not so good attempt at broken beats and a sort of weird house / tech-house but i had the feeling he was trying to fit instead of doing his thing. Anyway, i love this guy so much.
