Margo Price - Midwest Farmer's Daughter mp3 flac

Midwest Farmer's Daughter is the debut studio album by American country singer Margo Price. Released on March 25, 2016, it was the first country album to be released on Third Man Records. Despite the album's limited commercial success, peaking at No. 189 on the Billboard 200, it is considered by many publications and music critics to be one of 2016's best albums. Midwest Farmer's Daughter was recorded live to analog tape at the famed Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee and mixed at the nearby Ardent Studios.

That, ladies and gentleman is MARGO PRICE, and we here at Third Man Records are damn proud to announce the release of Margo Price & The Pricetags debut album Midwest Farmer's Daughter. And, while we could wax poetic for days about how much we love this record (and how we think Margo is here to save us all from the Starbucking of America with her stupefying voice that could tumble buildings and how her songs have one foot firmly planted in Nashville's past and their whole heart somehow gracefully existing in the present), instead.

The title Midwest Farmer’s Daughter is both autobiographical (the lead track, Hands of Time, tells the story of growing on the family farm in Illinois) and an allusion to Loretta Lynn, who she calls her hero. The album immediately established the unknown Price as a star, with appearances on Saturday Night Live, Parts Unknown, and NPR’s Tiny Desk series to name just a few. She won the Emerging Artist Award at the 2016 Americana Music Awards and in December, Rolling Stone ranked Midwest Farmer’s Daughter as the album on its list of the year’s best.

Midwest Farmer's Daughter isn't merely an autobiographical title for the retro country singer/songwriter Margo Price, it's a nice tip of the hat to one of her primary inspirations, Loretta Lynn. The connections between the two country singers don't end there.

On Midwest Farmer's Daughter-whose title is clearly meant to echo Loretta Lynn's famous origin story-Price emerges as a woman struggling to reclaim her story from the Nashville machine and reset it in old-school honky-tonk tunes that split the difference between so many ampersands: country & western, rock & roll, rhythm & blues. It's an ambitious piece of music-making and storytelling, featuring a road-hardened backing band called the Price Tags and a singer whose flinty voice conveys both a guarded vulnerability and a reckless scrappiness.
