Cuban-American singer of several musical genres: boleros, guarachas and Latin soul in particular.
He released his second album, Lupe Fiasco's The Cool, in December 2007. In addition to music, Fiasco has pursued other business ventures, including fashion. He runs two clothing lines, Righteous Kung-Fu and Trilly & Truly; he has designed sneakers for Reebok.
Since the release of his 2006 debut album Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor, Lupe’s relationship to music transcends our perceived notion of what complexity should sound like. Lupe’s music is a Rubik's Cube of political philosophy, mind-numbing lyricism, and intricate world-building that demands your undivided attention at the cost of losing yourself in his web of rhymes.
The following year, he released his aforementioned debut album (Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor), which was met with acclaim from fans and critics alike, as did his sophomore effort, Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool. The following eight years of his career saw far less output than many would’ve anticipated. This can be partly attributed to his struggles with Atlantic Records. The executives wanted him to sign a 360 deal; however, as he refused to do so they instead shelved his already completed 3rd album, Lasers, and wouldn’t promote him as they had previously. After leaving Atlantic, Lupe released his first full-length solo album, DROGAS WAVE, in late 2018.

Lupe Fiasco Articles and Media. On his seventh album, the conscious hip-hop fallback poses a revisionist fantasy about underwater slaves sinking other slave ships-a premise he quickly abandons during these 24 tracks.
