Give The People What We Want: Songs of The Kinks is a 2001 tribute album to music of The Kinks by various garage, punk and indie artists from the Northwestern United States. For instance: a quiet, heartfelt rendition of 'Waterloo Sunset', as performed by the Fastbacks.

Shifting from Shangri-La's reliance on '80s . That the Kinks now have not one, but two of the (few) best 10 tribute LPs ever is testament to the astounding quality of Davies' pen and the vintage Kinks lineup's greatness, as well as the cream of the crop artists they still inspire, 30-37 years later.

Kinks covers have lost a lot of their appeal since people started covering "Come Dancing" like it was going out of style. Don't do it. For the love of God, if you're in a band, don't. I cannot stress this enough. What's great about this tribute, though, is that it effectively merges all of the above into a somewhat uninspired, though truly weird amalgamation that eviscerates the competition by providing you with what you never even thought about wanting. In fact, some of the better moments on Give the People What We Want are either foregone conclusions or way out in left field. For example, garage-rockers the Fallouts offer a perfectly credible version of "The Man He Weeps Tonight. Conversely, the Makers' compelling "Strangers" comes off a bit like the bastard child of Neil Diamond and Iggy Pop (uh, it's really much, much better than that sounds).

The Kinks – The Kinks were an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1964 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. After the release of the album in 1987 the band working on the American indie circuit. In 1991, the released their fifth effort, and their first for a major label.

Kinda Kinks is the second album by English rock band The Kinks, released in 1965. Recorded and released within two weeks after returning from a tour in Asia, Ray Davies and the band were not satisfied with the production. The single "Tired of Waiting for You" was a hit on the UK Singles Charts. It was released as a track on the group's nineteenth album, Give the People What They Want, in August 1981, and was the album's lead single in the US. It was not released as a single in the UK. To the Bone (The Kinks album). To the Bone is a 1994 album by The Kinks. Recorded partly at Konk Studios with a small audience, and partly during their 1993 American tour and the 1994 UK tour, it was the band's final release before their breakup in 1996. 1967 is a compilation album released by the Mint 400 Records label in 2015.
