Sadly, Blonde On Blonde where not the new Jimi Hendrix, nor were they a future image of The Incredible String Band, Cream, or even Pink Floyd.

Blonde on Blonde’s rendering is hearty stuff and one of the highlights of Contrasts. There’s also a cover version of The Beatles’ hymn of loneliness, ‘Eleanor Rigby’, on hand, substituting the orchestral accompaniment of the original for a stirring horn section. Fantastic album actually has no weak points!. But in an era sadly underrated. Every fan of music from the late 60's will find something for everyone: afterdamp guitar, psychedelic with sitar, beatels melodies, acoustic atmospheres and folk typically progressive, instrumental passages. Music that emerged in this particular 1969 is quite rewarding with to different considerations, is one of the most interesting achievements of 1969 years of on British scenes, in this and next year 1970, as in a lens focused all that is best in popular music.

Blonde on Blonde's 1969 album is from the period when progressive rock, or more so pop, was new and fresh. Contrasts is indeed an album that is characteristic of the music that was being bandied around the music press in 1969 as progressive, not the preposterous entity that it became.

Blonde on Blonde was a guitar-led psychedelic rock group from South Wales. The band was formed in Newport in 1967 by vocalist/guitarist Ralph Denyer, drummer Les Hicks, bassist/organist Richard Hopkins and guitarist/sitar player Gareth Johnson. The band was named after Bob Dylan's 1966 album of the same name.

Blonde on Blonde took the popular styles of the time (and one or two of their favourite bands), chucked them into a pot and pepped it up a bit - not with virtuoso playing, complicated time signatures, classical references or side-long suites (I don't even get the feel of a concept to the album, except that side 1 contrasts with side 2. in terms of overall style), but with energy that compressed the influences until a new and progressive style popped out. This is not music that radically changed the status quo (although it does sound a little like the early outings by Parfitt and Rossi&apo.
