From Under the Cork Tree is the second studio album by American rock band Fall Out Boy. It was released on May 3, 2005, through Island Records as the band's major label debut. The music was composed by lead vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump, with all lyrics penned by bassist Pete Wentz, continuing the band's songwriting approach they took for some songs on their prior 2003 effort Take This to Your Grave. Neal Avron handled production duties
In 2016, Rolling Stone praised From Under the Cork Tree by raking it No. 9 on their list of the 40 Greatest Emo Albums of All Time, writing that Fall Out Boy. changed the course of emo-punk, pop-punk and pop itself with From Under the Cork Tree, which brought the scene mainstream. With lyrics written by bassist Pete Wentz, the album’s main themes are more introspective and centre around. the anxiety and depression that goes along with looking at your own life. In relation to this, Wentz’s anxiety towards creating a new record culminated in a suicide attempt in February 2005. The album cover, featuring a van and a trailer stuck deep in snow, references a car accident involving the band during a trip to New York to film a music video. From Under the Cork Tree Q&A.

Fall Out Boy's 2003 LP stacked sarcasm, wronged romance, and hardcore-derived passion on the head of a punk-pop pin. Take This to Your Grave was urgent at every turn, and though it fit the conventions of its genre, it was bolder and more memorable than the average release on Kung Fu or Drive-Thru. Sure, it nods a little more to the standard dynamics and production tweaks of pop-punk and emo in the mid-2000s - Cork Tree was produced by Neal Avron, who's worked with A New Found Glory. But in many more ways it's the same album as Grave, a youth-intense blast of pop culture reference, pop-punk hyperactivity, and the feeling that we'll never understand life until Patrick Stump or Pete Wentz tells us about it. And we believe them.
This was the first album is listened to from FOB is full and like the debut album, Take This to Your Grave, its still very punky but leans more towards the pop side of the pop punk spectrum . 10. I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me. 11.
