BRMC - Baby 81 mp3 flac

Baby 81 is the fourth studio album by American rock band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club The album features a harder, more raw sound compared with their previous record Howl. It was also a studio comeback for drummer Nick Jago who was unable to participate during the recordings of Howl (other than the last track recorded during the sessions, 'Promise')

During the last album, time couldn’t save their souls. Here and now, they can’t wait for time to save themselves. Welcome back Nick Jago. There’s no doubt, the countrified corner that BRMC found themselves painted into during Howl was pretty much down to his errant behavior, so it’s not a surprise to find his restoration marking a return to the sound with which they made friends and influenced people. Howl showed that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club could be more than just fuzz and the feedback, and Baby 81 takes that idea and runs with it. Ok, it’s (very) slightly at the expense of some of the nihilistic snarl which first endeared them to us, but in exchange we get an album with charms that run deeper. Charms such as the wide open spaces of American X, patrolled by the same Killer Droid Prog Bots that have been most recently coursing through Muse’s nightmares.

While BRMC's update of one of rock's most lingering yarns (itself never more than a performative construct) can at times feel like a well-executed recipe, it more often comes across as a cold, cynical ploy to revive rock's extended adolescence  . Most unfortunately, Baby furthers the band's ham-handed thematic extractions of evil from the everyday. Love is lethal, women are insidious, sin is everywhere, rock is redemption, you know the drill.

From their album Baby 81. I saw this song wasn't on IDclips apart from a silly Twilight video so I uploaded it myself. I own nothing featured in this video. BRMC return to remind us why we fell for them in the first place. It’s beyond strange to think now, but there was a time when Black Rebel Motorcycle Club were considered, in some circles, even cooler than The Strokes. Until, that is, a lacklustre second album (‘Take Them On, On Your Own’), a surly demeanor and simmering band tensions conspired to derail them. In the end, all it took was an inflatable penis presented to them by a fan at NME’s V2004 signing tent to send them into meltdown. In many ways it’s the natural follow-up to their magnificent debut.

Baby 81 is a loud affair, and with each track polished to a high shine (the album was self-produced by the band, co-produced by Michael Been, who formerly led the Call), the results are slick and serviceable rock. BRMC are sometimes accused of rehashing courses charted by earlier bands, and here that tendency occasionally works in their favor ("All You Do Is Talk" opens on an airy organ, recalling U2's majestic "Where the Streets Have No Name"), but also leads inevitably to comparison (much of Baby 81 evokes Oasis or a T-Rex-lite sound).
