Alexander (Alex) Hood (born 1935) is an Australian writer, actor and folklorist. He is regarded as one of Australia's most prolific writers and entertainers. Hood wrote a book The Green Emerald when aged eight and was writing short plays at nine. He studied at Homebush Boys High School in Sydney until his father persuaded him to become an electrical apprentice at age 15.
