Art Decade" is an instrumental by David Bowie for his album Low from 1977. The song is named for a street Bowie had encountered in West Berlin, whose name was a pun on the art deco style. In fact, the song itself is, like the rest of the songs on the b-side of Low, a portrait piece of a certain location, in this case, West Berlin. Recounting his impressions, Bowie later called West Berlin "a city cut off from its world, art and culture, dying with no hope of retribution

Boston orchestral pop band Art Decade began when singer Ben Talmi was in the 8th grade. Or rather, the seeds of what would become Art Decade first took root when Talmi formed his first band, Channel,?while still in his early teens. After several EPs, Channel garnered the attention of the late LeRoi Moore of The Dave Matthews Band.
Following up 2012's hammering, orchestral-adorned debut Western Sunrise, Boston's Art Decade return with their equally grand self-titled second album. Some bands dream big and for bandleader Ben Talmi, this comes in the form of complex indie guitar pop riding a tsunami of lush orchestration with medium-to-maximum levels of pomp.
The pun of the title – art decayed – reflects David Bowie’s own concern with his artistic inspiration needing some rejuicing, as could be seen on another song from the Low album, Sound and Vision. But like that other track Art Decade was actually a sign that Bowie was well back on track, being another of his fine instrumental collaborations with Brian Eno. "Art Decade" Track Info.
