Johnny Dollar (March 8, 1933, Kilgore, Texas - April 13, 1986) was an American country and rockabilly musician. Dollar relocated to Dallas in the early 1950s, where he worked in trucking and in a lumber yard. In 1952 he recorded a single for D Records, but it didn't catch on, and Dollar then found work as a DJ in Louisiana and New Mexico. There he began fronting a group called the Texas Sons and performed on the Louisiana Hayride in the middle of the 1950s.

Mr. Action Packed presents an incredible missing chapter in the Johnny Dollar story. The 20 songs here, all rockabilly classics from 1957-1958, were lost for 40 years until the tapes were discovered in a closet. Dollar recorded country before and after these sessions and had some chart success in the late '60s, but these tracks really rock, including smoking versions of "Rockin' Bones" and "Action Packed. In 1966/1967 Dot Records released four sides, however Crazy Eyes/Windburn on Dot 16961 failed to chart, and Your Hands struggled to 65 in March 1967 on Dot 16990 b/w Don't Take My Future From Me. Later that year, the Columbia subsidiary Date released The Wheels Fell Off The Wagon Again and it did better at 47 b/w Watching Me Losing You on Date 1566.
