Aphex Twin is the most well-known alias of British electronic musician Richard D. James, who is widely considered a pioneer of IDM and electronic music in general. His sound is diverse, but is typically characterized by textured, ambient synth stylings, tight sampling, and pressing drum patterns. The pseudonym Aphex Twin is an homage both to the Aphex Systems Limited brand of audio equipment and to his older brother who died at birth. Though James released a slew of albums in the 1990s and early 2000s, he stopped making music under the Aphex Twin name after 2004’s Classics, a greatest hits album. But ten years later, he surprised the world with Syro, effectively returning to the music world, and followed up with 2016’s Cheetah EP. Popular Aphex Twin songs.

The fourth proper Aphex Twin album, November 1996's Richard D. James Album, continued his forays into acid-jungle and experimental music. The accompanying videos, both directed by Chris Cunningham, featured the bodies of small children and female models (respectively) dancing around, all with ted Aphex Twin faces grinning maniacally. That August, a green blimp sporting the Aphex Twin logo was spotted flying over London; by the end of the following month, Warp released Syro, the first Aphex Twin album in over a dozen years. Syro went on to win a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

"On" may be the best track in my library of 5,000 songs. i can remember where i was the first time i listened to this track. from probably 100 listens it still sounds just as good. really something very special is in this release

D-Scape is personally my 'desert island track'. It has everything you could want in an experience of "visionary" audio. Haunting beauty. Weaving melody and endless layers & depth. Thunderous bass (that always catches you off guard). This track was the one that did it for me, opened my mind to the idea that electronic music could evoke the same kind of emotion as music produced by conventional / classical means. It leaves you wanting more, which is possibly the greatest quality of all.

love your explanation

This was the first piece of electronic vinyl i ever bought (i seen a clip for the video on a u.k show called "the chart show" when it was released.) Absolutely blew me away. Had never even payed the slightest bit of attention to electronic music til then (i was a death metal fan of all things :P ) THIS changed everything.
Xinetan
Classic Aphex reversal of the main drum loop (blinding braekbeat as usual). This is Aphex Twin for the masses though- far more accessible than a lot of his work.
Dream
of all music that richard d james has ever released, "on" must be the single best piece ever. it has the chilled, ambient feeling of a lot of tunes, but also the weird, distorted rhythmic works of other aphex work. still, this track is unique in every way possible.
