P. Convention performed jazz with folk influences. The Zagreb Soloists (Croatian: Zagrebački solisti) is a chamber orchestra founded in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1953 through the auspices of Zagreb Radiotelevision, under the artistic leadership of the Italian cellist and conductor, Antonio Janigro. After Janigro left the ensemble in 1968, the group was led first by their concertmaster, Dragutin Hrdjok, and then by their longtime artistic director and concertmaster, Tonko Ninić.

Double lp of jazz with an orchestra from Yugoslavia. I am trying to think of a comparable sound and I am coming up with blanks. "Mystery of Man" by Vaughan would be the closest I can think of but no vocals. It's sparse at times, orchestral at others but never in the traditional big band style. More of an avant approach with spiritual undertones. John Lewis is on piano (sounds great) and looks like he did some conducting. It's a double lp and has been championed by Gilles Peterson as well as some others. If you like classical with your jazz, this should be on your radar. It's not earth-shattering but it's a solid lp from front to back x2.
