Bob Marley & The Wailers - Classic Bob Marley And The Wailers mp3 flac
There is a bewildering array of Bob Marley collections on the market, and new ones pop up all the time, but they generally are pretty fly-by-night with few track notes and are usually tossed together with little regard for either chronology or stylistic coherence. This one is one of those, with a mix of Wailers self-productions, some as early as 1967, a couple of Mortimo Planno productions from 1968, and several tracks produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry from 1970 and 1971.
There are countless Bob Marley collections out there, and more each year, most of them made up of Marley & the Wailers' pre-Island Records recordings done initially for the Jamaican market, and many of these are rather random, thrown-together affairs, possibly legally dubious, reshuffling the same tracks in various configurations, often without liner notes or much annotation.

Most of Bob Marley's early music was recorded with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, who together with Marley were the most prominent members of The Wailers. In 1972, The Wailers had their first hit outside Jamaica when Johnny Nash covered their song "Stir It Up", which became a . hit. The 1973 album Catch a Fire was released worldwide, and sold well. It was followed by Burnin', which included the song "I Shot the Sheriff", of which a cover version by Eric Clapton became a hit in 1974.
As part of the Wailers and before the release of Natty Dread, Bob Marley had already put in a considerable effort to break into the charts with his first international album releases Catch A Fire and Burnin’. I Shot The Sherriff’ became a US N. hit (still Clapton’s only such success) and his enthusiastic endorsement of a Marley song, with an arrangement that did not differ hugely from the original (on the Burnin’ album), was a considerable spur to popular acceptance of reggae music in general and Marley in particular. The timing of Clapton’s hit could not have been better.
