Rising From The Red Sand Vol 4 - Various (Cassette). Well, on their fourth album Red Sand still sounds like early Marillion, due to the wonderful and moving guitar work by Simon Caron, many compelling solos with the use of the tremolo-arm (in the vein of Steve Rothery). But the musical direction has moved more towards modern Pendragon, also because singer Mathieu Lessand his voice sounds pretty similar to Nick Barrett (with the same melancholical undertone). And in comparison with their previous studio-album Human Trafficking, I notice a more omnipresent role of the keyboards.

Hudora
one of the best comps of the industrial/experimental underground during the 80's . I was wishing this would be re-released for years ,, preferably on cds but this is great. one drawback of this release is of course the missing tracks ( some of which are my faves ) but the majority is here. just bought my copy. one thing I hope from this is that the lower fi cuts on it sound distinctly better because of the tape hiss on the cassette version . nice liner notes too.
LivingCross
Any idea why some tracks were left off? Was it purely a case of running time or were there issues in reissuing these artists?
Mr Freeman
There are a few reasons that some tracks were left off. The Lustmørd tracks are not included as they were featured on the Lustmørd box set that VOD issued as the same time as the "Rising" box. The Philippe Laurent track was already licensed to Minimal Wave. A couple wouldn't license - David Jackman will not give permission for any very early things. Some of the other artists could not be found. Unlike a lot of labels these days, Frank is very honest and will not release anything without permission. Given how many artists are involved, it is very impressive that he got as many artists as he did.
Beranyle
It's likely VOD could not get permission from the artists.
