Indeed, perhaps what sees Palm Reader succeed so empathetically is how they are able to deliver these biting slabs of fearsome tumult with a certain southern swagger. One listen to the caustic bounce of ‘Echo’ will confirm the fun factor to be in full effect here. It’s as ‘Bad Weather’ draws to its conclusion although that we get a wide screen view of Palm Reader‘s stunning hidden depths.

Sitting right at the apex of where these two characteristics overlap is Palm Reader’s Bad Weather. What sounds like the enraged bastard child of The Dillinger Escape Plan and Every Time I Die, Palm Reader blend the perfect amount of technical abilities, passionate sentiment, and engaging songwriting to create a hardcore/metalcore album that not only holds its own against some of the greats, but exceeds nearly all expectations. Do not for one second let the talk of breathers coerce you into thinking that this album isn’t crushingly dense and off-kilter.

Palm Reader – Bad Weather. Published on 8th April 2013, by Stephen Hill - Posted in Hardcore, Metalcore, Punk 0. 9 Overall Score. If last year’s debut four track EP was an exciting teaser that showed promise, this album is that promise lived up to times infinity. Short opener Unwanted Guest (Grace Part 1) is a huge sounding slab of pummelling, driving metallic hardcore and it’s just Palm Reader revving the engine. From then on the band cover every possible facet of modern punk rock and nail it without fail. Uncomfortably Lucid is Every Time I Die’s liquor swigging, last gang in town swagger.
