Amarok is Mike Oldfield's 13th album, and was released in 1990. Oldfield originally conceived it as an "angry, protest album", showcasing his musical technique. It is presented as a single sixty-minute track of continuous, uninterrupted but constantly changing music. Oldfield's relationship with Virgin Records had become increasingly fraught.

A slight African theme can be singled out around the edges of Amarok, as Oldfield employs such instruments as bongo and clay drums, mixed in with ukulele and flamenco guitar. The sound of a toothbrush can be heard in one part of the album, as his unique combinations of noises and effects make up the bulk of this average sounding album. As much as the instruments are interesting to listen to, the rhythms and the syncopations that zigzag and intermingle come up short in leu of a final product

Mike Oldfield Lyrics. I suppose you think that nothing much is happening at the moment. Well, that's what I want to talk to you all about; endings. Now, endings normally happen at the end. But as we all know, endings are just beginnings. Amarok" lyrics provided for educational purposes and personal use only.

Amarok is the 13th record album by Mike Oldfield, released in 1990. It is considered by fans to be his most distinctive work: a single sixty-minute track of continuous, uninterrupted but constantly-changing music. Virgin Records had been trying to convince Oldfield to release a sequel to Tubular Bells, though probably more for the name recognition than anything else, particularly as Oldfield's contract was due to expire. Hi,Everybody knows Mike Oldfield from his soundtrack:: Exorcist (Tubular bells) & his latest presence at the Olympic Games in London 2012.I bought Amarok when I was 15 years of age. Now I'm 38 years old. Amarok is one of the albums that I listen so once in a while and that for the last 23 years...The CD cover has a little story inside about 2 men who are walking to a huge 'Golden statue' that's making a noise or sound witch can be felt and heard. But you can't explain it to someone else.Yesterday when I cleaned up a secondhand Denon Micro set AMP. I first listened to Amarok to test the system.I truly believe that Mike Oldfield made a Masterpiece with this. Throughout the Musical sound scape, Mike uses all kinds of techniques & sounds in such a way, that the most stupid listener is forced to finds the zero point of truthfully knowing how Sounds, Instruments, Harmonie, Rhythm & Natural structures are blend together. If you hear the Golden Statue? Then Mike has penetrated your brain and has given you the most beautiful gesture you can get.:: Natural connection between brain and ear :: Musical shock therapia I want to call it.I still can enjoy the programming of different styles and there blending. I've been a Studio Amateur DJ who was keen on a proper, tight, smooth blending mix. Amarok was my foundation to find other great music.Regards,Marcel S
