Edwin Ellsworth Peabody, known as Eddie Peabody (February 19, 1902 – November 7, 1970) was an American banjo player, instrument developer and musical entertainer whose career spanned five decades. He was the most famous plectrum banjoist of his era. Born in Reading, Massachusetts, Peabody taught himself to play the violin, mandolin, guitar and banjo while very young.

Re-issued here for the very first time since the 1920's/30's ! Back in those days Eddie Peabody, "King of the Banjo", was a household name and he was synonymous with the banjo. His style is exciting, full of energy and at lightning pace. With gracious permission from Eddie Peabody's son George, I am proud to present the music of the one and only "King of the Banjo", Mr. Eddie Peabody. These rare recordings have never been re-issued and the collection is the "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow" for all fans of Eddie, 1920's Vaudeville and plectrum banjo players alike. Eddie Peabody was not only a superb banjoist but also a great showman who really defined how plectrum banjo could be played "chord melody" style.
