The Whitefield Brothers - In The Raw mp3 flac

The Whitefield Brothers. In The Raw ‎(CD, Album, RE). Now-Again Records. This was the last album released by the great Soul Fire Records from New York. I got my copy in the first week of it's release back in 2002 and from what I remember this might have been Soul Fire Records' most successful long player and sold out in a few months. No wonder if you take a look at the eclectic and timeless music that the Munich based brothers Jan and Max Weissfeld deliver on this masterpiece. It's really difficult to categorize these heavy soundscapes in fact.

Produced by The Whitefield Brothers for Wei-Bro Productions. Track 12 "Buster" was originally released as the flipside of the "In The Raw" single and titled as "The Bastard". It was added to the CD re-release and apparently renamed. Why? I'd be interested to know. It was also listed as "The Bastard" on the "Grazing in the Trash Vol. 2: The Soul Fire Funk 45 Collection" compilation. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.

Every thing that MillionsDollars wrote is correct, i had to laugh that he/she called the people who missed the original sissies but if you see the cover on a record stand and see Soul Fire as the record label you better check this out because not only are the grooves RAW, the cover is heavy grade cardboard and the vinyl is some thick plastic like is was built like a Hummer trust me you need this because records stopped being made like this years ago.

No wonder if you take a look at the eclectic and timeless music that the Munich based brothers Jan and Max Weissfeld deliver on this masterpiece. It's really difficult to categorize these heavy soundscapes in fact. Too cosmopolitan to call it african-influenced, too raw to call it just funk and too dirty to call it soulful but in the end you end up somewhere between these genres and have to decide for yourself. By no means this heavyweight single record album packed in thick cardboard sleeve with vintage cover design should not be missing in a true music connoisseur's collection! Also make sure you have the 7" and the 10" single with the bonus cuts "The Bastard", "Chokin" and "Rampage" not including on the original album. Some people probably picked this up because of the Poets Of Rhythm fame and knew this has to be some quality music but some just put this on and got their mind blown away...(The sissies who missed or slept on this in 2002 had the chance to pick this up as a Now Again Records double LP reissue only seven years later in 2009.)
